"I was surprised when I visited the local Veterans Cemetery on Memorial Day 2013 and saw over a thousand headstones covered with dirt and moss. It's as if no one was truly honoring those who have died to ensure our freedoms. I knew I had to take action and organize an effort to make a change."

'Hands Across Time' is committed to honoring the memory of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country by ensuring that their gravesites are not forgotten nor left unkempt. There are nearly 5,000 headstones on over 90 acres at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. These beautiful grounds need the support of community volunteers to help maintain the monuments and that's our mission: To organize and execute periodic events to keep the headstones at the Veteran's Cemetery clean and readable. Our next event is on May 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
